"Over 30% of the world is powered by renewable energy"
That’s according to a report by researchers at the non-profit organization Ember.
The same study points to another interesting fact: the European Union is at the forefront of this ongoing energy transition, with 44% of its energy coming from renewable sources.
Another interesting result for the energy think tank that conducted this study is related to the great importance that solar energy has been having in this journey of revolution. Solar was the one that supplied the most energy to the world in 2023.
For Sarah Brown, director of Ember’s European program, the success that the EU has had is largely due to the preventive stance it has adopted, namely through the creation of the European Green Deal – a set of strategic initiatives that allow the much-desired climate neutrality to be achieved by 2050.
In the face of the devastating climate crisis we are experiencing, this report makes us more hopeful for a greener Europe and world: “The year 2023 was probably the turning point – the peak of emissions in the energy sector – an important turning point in the history of energy”.
However, to achieve this environmental revolution, investment in the Renewable Energy sector must continue.
ADDGEN is committed to this change.
